We are so glad you find yourself interested in learning more about our volunteer program!

 

We depend on caring individuals with diverse talents, like yourself, to help us run the rescue, generate awareness, and raise funding! Your time and effort is a tremendous gift to us. Our volunteers have mentioned that their time spent helping our horses is a gift back to them as well. Win-Win!

We have several ways in which you can volunteer, including:

Horse CarE Workers

A day in the life of a Horse Care Volunteer

Details

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Preparing lunches

  • Feeding horses

  • Cleaning stalls

  • Grooming horses

  • Cleaning water buckets 

  • Cleaning lunch buckets

  • Walking horses

Qualifications:

  • Ability to perform physical activities such as lots of walking, pushing wheelbarrows, raking, etc.

  • Ability to complete our free training program.

  • Ability to perform the above duties independently with a commitment to assist on at least one shift per week.

Work shifts:

  • Designated 2-hour shifts Monday through Sunday.

Event Help

Details

Duties may include (but are not limited to):

  • Assistance in event planning activities

  • Event promotion

  • Greeting and creating a fun experience for visitors

  • Educational tours

  • Staffing various stations or booth set-ups

Qualifications:

  • A good communicator and people person

  • Ability to complete to gain a working knowledge of the facility programs and general operations.

Work shifts:

  • On an as-needed, event basis

technical support

Details

Duties may include (but are not limited to):

  • Wifi and network set up or troubleshooting

  • Web and/or email hosting oversight

  • Electronics set up (devices, monitors, speakers, etc)

  • General technical assistance for rescue operations

Qualifications:

  • Professional technical experience or education

  • Ability to work directly with CVHR staff to diagnose and troubleshoot wide range of technical issues

  • Working knowledge of operating systems, networks, and common digital tools such as email, data storage and management, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.

Work shifts:

  • Intermittent, on an as-needed basis

Social Media & marketing

Details

Duties may include (but are not limited to):

  • Consulting on marketing strategies such as event promotion, fundraising communications, email campaigns, etc. 

  • Create and maintain marketing documents including: strategic marketing plan, communication schedule (email and social media accounts), educational campaigns, outreach programs, etc.

  • Work with creative roles and CVHR staff to identify supporting videos, photos, or custom images needed.

  • Composing concise promotional copy for emails and/or social posts

  • Responsible for the execution of the communications

Qualifications:

  • Professional communication skills

  • Experience and/or education in Marketing and/or Social Media (enrolled students welcome)

Work shifts:

  • Intermittent, on an as-needed basis

Graphic & Media Creatives

Details

Duties may include (but are not limited to):

  • Filming video

  • Creating promotional and/or education videos

  • Photographs of horses or events

  • Creation or modification of custom graphic elements needed for social media or web site

Qualifications:​

  • Experience and/or education in either videography, photography, and/or graphic design (enrolled students welcome)

  • Working knowledge of common software or equipment for each respective field (e.g. cameras, Photoshop, Illustrator, video editing programs, etc.)

Work shifts:

  • Intermittent, on an as-needed basis

UX / Interaction designers

Details

Duties may include (but are not limited to):

  • Ongoing web design & support 

  • Management of web strategy, style guide, and principles

  • Work with creatives (if needed) on images and media for website

Qualifications:​

  • Experience and/or education specifically in User Experience (UX) or Interaction design 

  • Working knowledge of best practices for great user experiences on websites

  • Deep understanding of usability principles

  • Desired, but not required, ability to write copy content for website (concise & clear)

Work shifts:

  • Intermittent, on an as-needed basis

Ranch Maintenance help

Details

Duties may include (but are not limited to):

  • Assistance in maintaining grounds, structures, buildings

  • Repairing or fixing a variety of things

  • Watering trees

  • Picking up rocks

  • Organizing tack rooms

  • Raking aisles

Qualifications:​

  • Ability to physically lift heavy objects (in some instances)

  • General handy-person experience or specific technical trade education

Work shifts:

  • Intermittent, on an as-needed basis
